crafting fine wine copy

For four years, I wrote the Tesco Wine Club Magazine under a freelance contract through EHS 4D. As I was ghost-writing articles on behalf of the extremely well-qualified Tesco Wine buyers, I decided to increase my knowledge by studying for a Diploma in Wines and Spirts. From an initial class of thirty, only two of us completed the notoriously difficult exam. I was awarded my diploma - and Tesco was awarded Wine Club of the Year by the International Wine Challenge, two years running.

wine magazine

The magazine featured below was just one of many that I wrote on behalf of the Tesco Wine Club. What won't be immediately apparent is that I wrote every single word in the magazine - from the articles on behalf of Graham Nash, James Griswood and Nick Juby to each individual wine description. I am particularly proud of the South African article, which tied wine and football together, whilst giving a very well researched introduction to South African wine and food - even including a guide to visiting the region.

Australian article

A coast-to-coast tour of Austria's wine regions, researched and written by me on behalf of Master of Wine, Perpaolo Petrassi.

Cooking article

The magazine had a regular cooking feature that I wrote, including this one - Cooking with Wine -  that I composed on behalf of the Tesco Wine Team.

Italian article

An extensive guide to the wine regions of Italy that I wrote on behalf of Master of Wine, Pierpaolo Petrassi.

Interview

As editor of the Wine Club Magazine, I conducted dozens of interviews with wine-makers on behalf of the Tesco Wine Buyers. This one was with Tim Adams on behalf of Pierpaolo Petrassi.
